Nuova recensione di Gershwin on Air sul prestigioso portale belga “ROOTSTIME” a cura di Jan van Leersum.

Ecco un estratto tradotto in italiano:

“… Rolff ha scoperto alcune sfaccettature nascoste nelle famose canzoni di Gershwin attraverso i suoi arrangiamenti per il trio.

Ciò che si nota subito all’ascolto di questo CD è la flessibilità con cui i tre musicisti si mettono al servizio delle composizioni e delle interpretazioni che Rolff vuole seguire.

Fusco è l’elastico che lega il tutto. Quest’ultimo, tra l’altro, gioca un ruolo importante nella fantasiosa interpretazione di “Summertime”, una delle versioni più belle che conosca e questo la dice lunga viste le innumerevoli versioni che ci sono.

Gli originali sono molto forti di per sé, ma ovviamente anche ampiamente conosciuti e questo rende questo CD così sorprendente e ammirevole, Rolff e i suoi amici sanno come creare un mondo musicale completamente nuovo con la loro esecuzione di questi classici: un ascolto da brividi!

What is immediately noticeable when listening to this CD is the flexibility with which the three musicians put themselves at the service of the compositions and interpretations that Rolff wants to follow. So don’t think, Gershwin I know that, all those well-known songs from Porgy and Bess, no of course the melody shines through the quirky and beautiful interpretations of Massimiliano, but it comes across as fresh as if it were new music.

The originals are very strong in themselves, but of course also widely known and that makes this CD so surprising and admirable, Rolff and his buddies know how to create a whole new musical world with their performance of these classics, listen and shudder!”
